National Youth Work Conference – Save the Date – 8 November 2022

This year’s National Youth Work Conference will take place in Glasgow on 8 November. The focus of our conference will be youth work and poverty.

More than one in four children and young people are officially living in recognised poverty in Scotland. This can have a significant impact on health and wellbeing, access to services, educational attainment and employability pathways. In addition, many young people currently experience poverty related stigma and discrimination. Youth work plays a vital role supporting the needs of young people whilst ensuring they have equal access to services and that their voices are heard.

This conference will explore youth work’s role in poverty reduction, demonstrating best practice across the sector from practitioners, academics and keynote speakers, including the voices of individuals who have first-hand experience of the daily poverty-related issues faced and ways that the sector could work together to resolve some of these issues and continue supporting young people.  

This national event is aimed at:

• The youth work sector.
• Other related professionals interested in the impact of poverty on young people.
• Education and academic professionals.
• Volunteers.

We will be using our Link Magazine and conference workshops to promote and share best practice, develop skills and learn how policy can be taken into practice and management in relation to Youth Work and Poverty. The call for workshop proposals and Link Magazine articles is now open here. Deadline for proposals: 19 August 2022.

There will also be a small exhibition area for participants to find out about services and products which may enhance practice. If your organisation is interested in having an information stall in the networking area please complete the booking form by Friday 2 September 2022.
