Show Racism the Red Card

Show Racism the Red Card is an anti-racism and anti-sectarianism charity. The charity was established in Newcastle, England in January 1996 utilising the popularity of football and the role-model status of professional footballers to educate against racism in society in all its forms.
The aim of our campaign is to combat racism through anti-racism education and we produce a number of educational resources including: films, education packs, posters and magazines.
As well as producing resources we organise high-profile anti-racism educational events at football clubs throughout the UK and we have been delivering anti-racism workshops in Scottish schools, colleges, youth groups and workplaces since our dedicated office was set up.
Statement: Show Bigotry the Red Card is the sister campaign of Show Racism the Red Card in Scotland. We aim to raise awareness and educate on the dangers of sectarian intolerance using the high profile of football to educate against prejudice. We promote a message of equality and respect and encourage all that engage with us to pass these important message across their community.
Definition of Sectarianism: Narrow-minded beliefs that lead to prejudice, discrimination, malice and ill-will towards members, or presumed members, of a religious denomination.
Resources:
Fortnight of Action Information - A period of concerted action encourages participation from all sections of communities to celebrate diversity and tackle racism. We hope that the anti-racism actions, events and initiatives that take place in the fortnight act as a catalyst for further work throughout the year.
Creative Competition - An annual anti-racism and anti-sectarianism creative competition. This competition capitalises on the phenomenal creative talent in Scotland’s schools and colleges to get across the message that racism and sectarianism has no place in Scotland. It is our aim to make the competition as inclusive as possible so that everyone can enter no matter their ability.
