Large Scale Communities Utd Projects
As part of the long standing Sense over Sectarianism Communities Utd programme many schools have worked together in partnership to take part in workshops, sports events and studies based on the novel study of “the Divided City”. These partnerships take place right across Glasgow and several adjoining local authorities.
The Communities Utd programme typically involves closely located denominational and a non-denominational schools and is targeted at primary 6 and 7 pupils with activities taking place in each partner school.
These programmes have nearly always involved 2 schools but in January and February 2018 there have been 2 separate programmes which have involved 3 schools and multiple classes.
The partnership between Sunnyside, St Rose of Lima and Avenueend Primary School’s has been delivered across all 3 venues and 6 classes and approximately 180 P6 and P7 pupils have taken part.
The partnership between Carntyne, St Thomas’ and Haghill Park Primary Schools has also been delivered across all 3 venues and 4 classes and approximately 100 pupils have taken part.
It has been a credit to the schools and their willingness to overcome logistical issues that have made all of this work possible. Clearly they see a high value in this style of education and the benefits it provides to their young people.
